THE PROBLEM
Bali is in crisis. The island’s growing population and development is leading towards a water emergency by 2025. Indonesia generates roughly 24 thousand tons of waste daily, resulting in plastic waste in landfills, the ocean, and on the beaches. With a growing tourist industry, a lack of sanitation facilities and a changing environment, the island is running out of water and becoming filled with plastic.

THE SOLUTION
The Baliclear mission is to bring awareness, reduce plastic usage and aid in restoring water on the island. Baliclear’s unique portable water filters provide clean water for tourists and reduces the use of disposable plastic bottles. The Baliclear products and partnerships through tourism bring awareness to the water crisis while supporting Bali’s fragile environment.

INITIAL RESEARCH

Towards the beginning, my main focus was Bali’s water crisis. Specifically, figuring out a way to mitigate the usage of water on the island. After doing more research I realized how big of an issue plastic pollution is and focused more attention towards that. I wanted to create a company that serves to help both, the water crisis, as well as the plastic pollution.

PRODUCT
The Baliclear product is a portable water filter made up of 5 organic components. This filter can be used on multiple faucets in hotels, villas, and different stays, ultimately reducing the amount of plastic water bottles being purchased on the island.

APP
Our app lets you learn about our island, our crisis, and our footprint. Additionally, info about our filter, The components, usage, and donations.

MARKETING CAMPAIGN
The Baliclear advertising campaign, connects travelers when booking their trip, at the airport and while in flight.
